Convicts

In this short film, Franco Piavoli captures in detail the faces, gestures and reactions of people watching a football match in a small Italian village, without ever showing the pitch or the ball. An anthropological essay on crowds, which reveals both the possibilities of cinematic language and the emotional intensity associated with sport as a form of human escapism.
