Double Strength

In one of her most beautiful films, the artist Barbara Hammer presents an intimate poetic study of the different phases of her relationship with trapeze artist Terry Sendgraff. The film follows their relationship from its “honeymoon” phase through to conflict, followed by separation and the establishment of a lasting friendship. The film is built from a montage of excerpts in which the two women swing on Sendgraff’s aerial equipment, overlaid with archive photographs and video.
